How it works: Book online before your trip. Enter your terminal (determined automatically by your flight number), your Prague destination, and your preferred vehicle. Your driver monitors your flight in real time, positions in the arrivals hall before you clear customs, and meets you with a name board. You go directly to the car.

Journey time: 25 to 40 minutes depending on destination and traffic.

Cost: From approximately 25 euros (around 620 CZK) for a sedan to the city centre, fixed at booking. Groups travelling in a V-Class pay a single group rate that is often less per person than two separate metered taxis.

Option 2: Taxi from the Rank

Licensed taxis operate from official bays directly outside both terminals. The authorised airport operators are FIX Airport Taxis, which offer a zone-based fixed tariff, and AAA Radiotaxi, which operates on a meter. Both are licensed and legitimate.

How it works: Exit the arrivals hall, follow signs to the official taxi rank outside, join the queue, and take the next available vehicle. FIX taxis display a fixed price to common Prague destinations; AAA runs on a regulated meter.

Journey time: 25 to 40 minutes under normal conditions.

Cost: Approximately 600 to 850 CZK for a metered journey to the Old Town or Wenceslas Square. FIX zone prices are comparable. In heavy traffic, a metered fare can exceed 1,000 CZK.

What is included: A licensed vehicle and driver. No advance arrangement, no flight tracking, no guaranteed vehicle type.

Watch for: Unlicensed drivers approaching you inside the arrivals hall. These are not rank taxis. Only use vehicles at the official rank outside, clearly marked and signed.

Best for: Solo travellers and couples arriving in the daytime with straightforward luggage and no time-sensitive onward commitment.

Option 3: Bolt and Uber

Both Bolt and Uber operate legally at Prague Airport. The app shows an upfront price estimate before you confirm, which provides pricing transparency similar to a fixed price transfer.

How it works: Open the app in the arrivals hall, enter your destination, and confirm your ride. The pick-up point is in the P1 car park, accessible via a short walk from both terminals following the Bolt/Uber signage.

Journey time: 30 to 45 minutes including the walk to P1.

Cost: Variable. Under normal conditions, comparable to a metered taxi. During busy periods, surge pricing can push the final cost significantly above the initial estimate.

What is included: An upfront price estimate (not guaranteed if surge pricing applies), a driver and vehicle tracked in the app.

Best for: Travellers who regularly use Bolt or Uber and are comfortable with the app process, arriving during non-peak hours when surge is unlikely.

Note: The P1 car park pick-up requires a walk from the terminal with your luggage. For families with children and significant baggage, this additional step is worth factoring into the comparison.

Option 4: Airport Express Bus (AE)

The Airport Express is a direct bus service operated by Prague Public Transport (DPP) running from both terminals to Praha hlavní nádraží (Prague Main Railway Station). It runs every 30 minutes and takes approximately 35 to 45 minutes.

How it works: Follow Airport Express signs from the arrivals hall to the bus stop outside. Purchase a ticket at the machine or from the driver. The bus runs directly to the main train station, where you connect to metro, tram, or taxi for your final destination.

Journey time: 35 to 45 minutes to the train station, then additional time to your hotel.

Cost: 100 CZK per person (approximately 4 euros). Check the DPP website for current pricing before travel.

What is included: A direct bus journey to the main railway station. Nothing else.

Best for: Solo travellers with one bag staying near the main station or comfortable navigating Czech public transport for the second leg. Not recommended for families, groups with significant luggage, or travellers unfamiliar with Prague.

Limitation: The AE goes to the railway station only. If your hotel is in Vinohrady, Malá Strana, Smíchov, or any address not near the station, you will need an additional journey of 10 to 20 minutes by metro or tram, adding both time and another fare to the total.

Option 5: Bus 119 and Metro Line A

Bus line 119 connects both terminals to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station on Line A (green line). From Veleslavín, the metro reaches Muzeum (Wenceslas Square area) in approximately 15 minutes and Staroměstská (Old Town) in approximately 17 minutes.

How it works: Take bus 119 from the terminal bus stop to Veleslavín, then metro Line A toward the city centre. You need a 90-minute ticket covering both the bus and metro legs.

Journey time: 45 to 55 minutes total from terminal to Old Town, depending on connections.

Cost: 40 CZK per person for a 90-minute ticket.

What is included: Standard Prague public transport. No luggage assistance, no guaranteed seating during busy periods, no shelter from the weather at bus stops.

Best for: Travellers who know Prague well, are travelling light, and for whom cost is the primary consideration. Not practical for groups, families with children, or travellers with more than one large bag.

How to Choose

The right option depends on three variables: who is travelling, when you are arriving, and how much predictability you want.

If you are a solo traveller or couple with light luggage, arriving in the daytime: Any option is viable. Bus 119 and metro is cheapest. Bolt or Uber is convenient if you use the app. A pre-booked transfer gives the most seamless experience.

If you are travelling with children: Pre-booked private transfer with confirmed child seats is the most practical. The bus and metro with children and luggage is difficult. A rank taxi cannot guarantee child seats in advance.

If you are travelling in a group of 3 or more: A single V-Class transfer is almost always more cost-effective and more convenient than splitting across two taxis or managing a group on public transport.

If you are arriving late at night or very early in the morning: Pre-booked transfer. Taxi availability at the rank at 3am is unreliable. Bus 119 runs a reduced night schedule. A pre-booked service with flight tracking operates at the same standard at 4am as at 4pm.
