About Wenceslas Square

Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) is the commercial and civic heart of Prague. Not a square in the traditional sense but a broad 750-metre boulevard running from the National Museum at the top to the junction with Na Příkopě and 28. října at the bottom, it is one of the longest and most significant public spaces in Central Europe. Hotels, restaurants, shops, and office buildings line both sides. The square has been the site of every major moment in Czech modern history, from the declaration of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918 to the Velvet Revolution in 1989.

For visitors, Wenceslas Square functions as the most central and convenient base in Prague. The metro has two stations on the square itself (Muzeum and Můstek), placing the Old Town, Vinohrady, and every other part of the city within easy reach. The major hotels in the area include the Marriott Prague on V Celnici at the bottom of the square, the Radisson Blu Alcron on Štěpánská, Hotel Jalta directly on the square, and a significant cluster of international chain hotels within a few minutes walk. For guests arriving at Wenceslas Square, the transfer from the airport is one of the more straightforward in Prague. The route from the airport via the D0 ring road and Evropská is direct, traffic permitting. Your driver is already tracking your flight, waiting in the arrivals hall with your name, and taking you to your specific hotel entrance or address on or near the square. Journey time is typically 25 to 35 minutes, making this one of the quicker airport runs in the city for a central Prague destination.
